Tumor odontogénico epitelial calcificante maxilar (tumor de Pindborg): Tratamiento conservador, reporte de caso.

JUAN FERNANDO MUÑOZ-TAMAYO

ABSTRACT:

Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors (CEOT) are uncommon, accounting for less than 1% of all odontogenic tumors. The CEOT, since its description by Pindborg in 1958 is considered a benign lesion, commonly known as the Pindborg tumor. We present a male 57 year old patient with a right maxillary CEOT who was treated with partial maxillectomy. Nowadays, without recurrence at 12 months. From this case we can conclude that such conservative surgery, according to few cases reported in the literature; is adequate, unless histopathologic risk factors were found for malignancy.
